Your photos may reveal where you live
Photos taken with a smartphone often contain the GPS coordinates of where they were shot. A photo taken at home and posted to a marketplace or blog can reveal your address. Photos flagged GPS found deserve special attention. The removal here works by redrawing the image into a brand-new file, so every piece of metadata — not just GPS — is reliably gone, and the image orientation is baked in so nothing ends up sideways.
FAQ
Why does it say "No EXIF"?
PNGs, screenshots, and images that have passed through social media usually contain no EXIF at all — in that case there is nothing to leak.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Reading and removing EXIF both happen entirely inside your browser, so photos with location data are safe to check here.
What happens when I click "View on map"?
Google Maps opens in a new tab, and at that moment the latitude/longitude are sent to Google Maps. This only happens if you click the link — nothing is sent anywhere otherwise. The map itself isn't embedded on this page for the same reason: to avoid any unrelated network requests.
