How to use
- Choose the audio file you want to trim — the waveform appears with silent sections shown in red.
- Adjust "Silence threshold", "Min. silence length", and "Padding" while watching the waveform.
- Press "Trim silence & save as WAV" to download the result.
No AI — just a volume calculation
This tool splits your audio into short windows (20 milliseconds each), measures the volume of each, and marks any stretch quieter than your threshold — lasting longer than your minimum length — as silence to remove. It doesn't recognize speech or language, so it works the same regardless of what's being said.
Setting "Min. silence length" too short can choppily cut natural pauses between words. Keeping some "Padding" avoids abrupt starts or cutoffs right at the edit points.

FAQ
Is my audio uploaded to a server?
No. Analysis, trimming, and saving all happen entirely in your browser.
Why WAV instead of MP3?
WAV is uncompressed, so it can be written accurately from the browser with no extra library. The tradeoff is a larger file size if your original was a compressed format like MP3 — convert further afterward if needed.
Speech sounds choppy between words.
Try increasing "Min. silence length" or "Padding." For speech with frequent breathing pauses, setting the minimum silence length to 0.5s or more usually sounds more natural.
Does it work on audio with background music?
Background music registers as volume too, making silence harder to detect while it plays. This works best on narration with little background noise.
